In order to promote healthy eating habits and to provide sound nutrition for young people and adults in the food and beverage choices offered every day by the RASG Hebrew Academy food service, the following guidelines have been developed. Goals of the guidelines are to encourage prudent, nutritious choices while educating for a lifetime’s well-being. Data on the fat, salt, sugar, and vitamin components of foods and beverages served will be available on daily menus in the Upper School and Middle School dining rooms, and general nutritional information about the constituents of a healthy diet appropriate to maintaining lifelong health will be both posted and presented in health classes.

Healthy eating habits take time to grow, and adolescents are not always going to make the healthiest choice for something to eat when they’re hungry and distracted. However, with nutrition education raising student awareness in the dining rooms and health classes, and with thoughtful practices in menu choices and food preparation, students will have a foundation for changing their eating habits as they mature to promote their lifelong health.
