The Hebrew Academy is an Orthodox Day School serving a diverse Jewish Community.   Our unique challenge is to provide a superior authentic, traditional Jewish education that meets the differing needs of students along a broad spectrum while providing an outstanding secular education to its students from nursery to high school.

The Academy’s learning program is open and accessible to all Jewish families who embrace our learning ideals and philosophy, no matter what their personal level of observance or affiliation may be.

All students and families wishing to enroll at the school must first arrange an interview with the Administration of the specific Department that they will be attending.  Families with children of different ages may need to arrange more than one interview.  The focus of this interview is to discuss and answer any questions about our program and the school and to provide an opportunity for the school administration to determine the academic level of the student.  School records including standardized test results from the prior three years must be available for this interview.  The administration at its discretion may administer a school created formal or informal academic test in certain subject areas to help determine placement of the student, and to ensure that the student meets the academic standards of the school.  School rules and guidelines will also be reviewed at this meeting.  Each student from Grade 2 and up will also be administered a behavioral assessment test (such as the BASC) to help identify the behaviors of the student.  Based on this interview and testing process the Administration will determine whether or not the student meets the entrance requirements to enroll as a student at the school.  When necessary any additional fees incurred for the testing process, must be covered by the parent.  To enroll a student in the Hebrew Academy is to commit oneself to encouraging, fostering and actively participating in a vibrant educational process.

The family must also have an interview with the school’s Dean.  The purpose of this interview is for the Dean to review the school Philosophy with the family and the student.  The family must agree to abide by the school’s code of conduct and philosophy.  Students must agree to conform to all standards including the religious standards as determined by accepted universal Orthodox standards, as defined by classical Jewish legal texts and authorities.

Any family attending the school must agree while in school or at any school sponsored function to adhere to the religious and academic standards as set for the by the School Philosophy.  All students attending must be classified as Jewish based upon Orthodox Halachic guidelines as set forth by the office of the Chief Rabbinate of the State of Israel.

Before attending classes at the school, after completing the above process successfully, the family must officially register their child(ren) with the school Business Office.  No student will be allowed to enter class without an authorization slip from the Business Office that attests to the family completing the necessary paperwork and financial arrangements.  Students may only begin attending after all requested school and health records are on file in the school office.

In certain cases students may be accepted on “probationary” status.  This status will come with clear guidelines as to why the status is being enforced, with firm timelines of guidelines for the family and student to adhere to.  When the probationary time period is completed, the family will be informed whether the school will accept the student on a “full” status.

There will be cases where students will be required to complete summer courses, or receive tutoring in certain subjects prior to their attendance at the school.  There will also be certain situations where parents will be required to provide tutoring to help support the student in his/her studies during the course of the school year.

Hebrew Academy students completing their Middle School years, wishing to continue in the High School must be interviewed by the High School Administration.  Teacher’s recommendations will help determine whether students will be accepted into the High School on a “full” status, “probationary” status, or whether they will not be accepted into the High School.  In certain instances, the High School Administration will administer an academic test in certain subject areas, or a behavioral assessment test (such as BASC).  This will be determined through the interview process and based upon teacher recommendations.
